The Agostino Rocca lodge offers outstanding views of Mounts Constitución and Parque, the Frías Glacier, the Argentine and Chilean peaks of Mount Tronador, as well as a panoramic view of the valley crossed by the Alerce and Frías rivers, with its spectacular crystal clear waters.
Before setting out, remember to fill out the hiking register with your data at the National Parks office. The difficulty level ranges from low to medium and it can be done from November to April. The distance hiked is 14.3 km (8.8 miles), with a total ascent of 710 meters (2,329 feet) and estimated duration time of 4 to 6 hours.
The hike begins at Pampa Linda. You walk for approximately 3 km (1.86 miles) to a footbridge that crosses the Castaño Overa river. You continue down the path, following the signs to Paso de las Nubes, and then follow the Alerce creek for 2 to 3 hours, walking on a slight slope. Then you cross the Alerce bridge and arrive at Caracol. Continue for about 1 to 1.5 hours on an ascent of 490 meters (1608 feet) and then walk on an even surface until you arrive at the lodge.
