Stone, Wood and Home Comfort

The San Martín lodge, best known as Jakob lodge, is located 1600 meters above sea level. It was built with stone and wood at the beginning of the 1950s and has since underwent several expansions. It currently sleeps approximately 60 people comfortably.

Within a 30 minute walk from the lodge you'll find the beautiful Tempanos lagoon. In early summer you can sea ice blocks still floating on the surface.

The most popular way to get to the lodge is through Stone House. The trail begins on route 252, one kilometer away from the road bridge over the Casa de Piedra creek. After walking for 800 meters, you enter a tall coihue wood and then go down to the shores of the Casa de Piedra creek. You cross a hanging bridge and go on until you reach high woods, where the slope becomes more pronounced until you run into the creek again, where there is a bridge. You cross the creek and walk for 45 minutes to get to the lodge.
